Here's what you can expect between now and your first lesson
Gather Your Materials
Your instructor will let you know in the first few lessons if there are any books/materials you need. In the meantime, this the best time to make sure your instrument is ready to go before your first lesson. If you need to buy or rent one, let us know and we can help you find the best solution.
Login to TeacherZone
TeacherZone is our student and parent portal. There you can view your lesson schedule, update your payment info when needed, connect to your online lesson if you're learning on Zoom, and more.
If you don't receive your TeacherZone registration email with login info by your first lesson, let us know and we will send it to you.

Student/Parent Handguide
This is your general guide to everything Starland. This one-sheet explains how everything works at the school, including our policies and procedures. Here are a few main take aways:
- We require a 24 hour notice to cancel a lesson. Student absences with 24 hour notice will receive a custom virtual lesson via LessonMate. Without 24 hour notice, your lesson is forfeited.
- There's a 30 day notice to stop lessons, and 2 week notice to put lessons on hold.
- Tuition comes out automatically on the first of each month .
- If your instructor is absent, we will either provide a sub, or bank your lesson so you can schedule a makeup at a later date. All banked lessons expire after 90 days.
